Alexandria Breast Lift
Reclaim Your Curves
If you suffer from ptosis, or sagging, of the breasts, then breast lift surgery at Virginia Center for Plastic Surgery can help you get the refreshed, firmer bust you desire.
Double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Desman can reverse the effects of aging, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and even gravity to revitalize your figure and rejuvenate your self-esteem.
What Is a Breast Lift?
From pregnancy to general aging, there are many factors that contribute to ptosis, or sagging of the breasts. Fortunately, this common problem can be solved with a breast lift procedure.
While this surgery is a great way to eliminate sagging, it cannot restore breast volume, which is why some patients opt for a combination of a breast lift and implants. This particular combination is often seen during a mommy makeover, but it can also benefit women who’d like to restore volume, symmetry, and shape to their chest.
When discussing a breast lift during a consultation, Dr. Desman will determine which of the following incision options is best for you:
- Periareolar: This incision is made around the nipple in the dark skin of the areola and is typically used for mild levels of ptosis.
- Vertical: This incision follows the areola and continues vertically to the base of the breast. It is best for mild to moderate levels of ptosis.
- Anchor: This incision is similar to the vertical, but it has an additional incision that follows the crease where the breast and chest meet. Anchor incisions are used for more pronounced levels of ptosis.
How Does a Breast Lift Work?
The primary goal of a breast lift is to address sagging, which can be related to pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or simply from age. During the procedure, breast tissue (along with the nipple/areolar complex) is repositioned on the chest wall.
After that, the skin is tightened around the newly repositioned breast tissue. These operations are performed by Dr. Desman in our fully accredited, state-of-the-art facility. With advanced equipment and experienced personnel, you can rest assured that your comfort and safety are priorities during surgery.
Breast Lift With a Breast Augmentation
Many of the factors that cause sagging - like age, significant weight loss, and pregnancy – can also contribute to a loss of volume, symmetry, and shape. And, while a breast lift is an excellent option for treating sagging, it cannot restore volume or improve extreme asymmetry.
As a result, many Alexandria and Northern Virginia women opt to have their breast lift paired with a breast augmentation. This combination is typically included in the mommy makeover procedure, but it can also benefit women who have never been pregnant.
If you choose a breast lift with augmentation, you will have the option of different types of implants, depending on your anatomy and cosmetic goals.
A breast lift with augmentation can fully restore volume, shape, and symmetry so that your figure is ideally balanced. For a better idea of what kind of transformations are possible with these procedures, take a look at the before and after gallery.
What Incisions Does a Breast Lift Involve?
Dr. Desman offers several options for incisions during your breast lift surgery. For mild levels of ptosis, a periareolar incision is used, which is made around the nipple in the areola.
For mild to moderate levels of ptosis, a vertical incision is used, which follows the areola vertically to the base of the breast. For more pronounced levels of ptosis, our team uses an anchor incision. This is similar to the vertical incision, but it includes an extra incision that follows the crease where the chest and breasts come together.
During a consultation, Dr. Desman will help Alexandria and Northern Virginia patients decide which incision type would be safest for a breast lift.
