Non-surgical treatments are aesthetic procedures that refresh your face, skin and body without incisions or general anesthesia. They include injectables, laser resurfacing, skin tightening and medical facials. Most take under an hour, and many patients return to work the same day.

At Virginia Center for Plastic Surgery, Fairfax patients are cared for by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Desman at our Alexandria office, a short and direct drive from most of Fairfax County. Every injectable, laser session and skin treatment is performed or directly supervised by a medical professional trained in facial anatomy. You get medical oversight without the operating room.

Injectables for Lines and Volume

Botox and Dysport relax the muscles behind forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet. Injectable fillers work differently, restoring volume that has been lost rather than softening movement.

  • Juvederm smooths nasolabial folds, restores midface volume and adds definition to the lips and jawline, with a different formulation for each.
  • Restylane treats lips, tear troughs and folds across a range of formulations.
  • RHA fillers move with your natural expressions, which makes them a strong choice for animated areas of the face.

Biostimulators and Fat Reduction

Sculptra is not a filler in the usual sense. Rather than filling a line directly, it prompts your own collagen to rebuild across a series of sessions, so the change appears gradually. EZ Gel uses your own blood plasma to support skin quality and under-eye hollowing. Kybella reduces the fat pocket under the chin without surgery.

Skin Resurfacing and Texture

Which treatment fits depends on what you are trying to address.

Energy-Based Devices

The Alma Hybrid combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single session, which lets Dr. Desman treat surface pigment and deeper collagen at the same time. IPL targets redness, rosacea and sun spots across the face, chest and hands. ThermiVa radiofrequency addresses intimate wellness concerns without surgery.

Non-Surgical Treatments for Men

Men make up a growing share of our injectable and laser patients. A conservative Botox plan softens deep forehead creases while keeping full expression. Filler along the jaw and chin sharpens definition, and IPL clears sun damage built up over years spent outdoors. Our non-surgical options for men are planned with that in mind.

Why a Plastic Surgery Practice Rather Than a Med Spa

Dr. Eric Desman is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the medical lead behind every non-surgical treatment offered here. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and holds memberships with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Medical Society of Virginia and the Virginia Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has been practicing for more than 25 years.

Injectable work asks for more than a steady hand. Our injectors train specifically in facial anatomy, vascular mapping and complication management, so they understand what sits beneath every injection point. That is the difference between a practice that can manage a complication and one that has to refer it somewhere else.

A surgeon-led practice also gives you honest guidance. If an injectable will not get you where you want to be, Dr. Desman will say so and walk through the surgical alternatives rather than selling you something that falls short. The same team handles both, so nothing is outsourced to a third-party spa.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Botox and fillers last?

Botox and Dysport results generally last three to four months before muscle movement gradually returns. Fillers last longer, often between six months and two years depending on the product and the area treated. Thicker structural fillers tend to hold longest, while lip filler breaks down faster because the area moves constantly.

Is there any downtime after injectables or laser treatments?

Most injectable appointments involve no real downtime. You may see small bumps, redness or bruising at the injection sites for a few days, all of which cover easily with makeup. Laser treatments vary more, with IPL bringing a couple of days of darkened spots before they flake away, and deeper resurfacing needing several days.

What is a non-surgical facelift and am I a candidate?

It combines injectables, biostimulators and energy-based skin tightening to restore volume and firm the skin without incisions. Good candidates have mild to moderate laxity and want gradual improvement with minimal recovery. If you have significant sagging along the jawline or neck, Dr. Desman will tell you whether a surgical option would serve you better.

How soon will I see results?

Fillers create visible volume immediately, though the final shape settles once swelling resolves at around two weeks. Botox and Dysport begin working within three to five days and reach full effect at about day fourteen. Collagen-based treatments build gradually over several weeks as your skin rebuilds.

Are non-surgical treatments safe for all skin types?

Injectables are appropriate across all skin tones. Laser and light-based treatments need more careful selection, since certain devices carry a higher chance of pigment change in deeper skin tones. Dr. Desman evaluates your Fitzpatrick skin type and recommends only the devices and settings appropriate for you.
